Our Topic: Southern Heroes; Lessons for Today

Our Faculty: Dr. Clyde Wilson, Dr. Brion McClanahan, Ray McBerry, Dr. David Aiken and featuring the music of Miss Deborah Brinson; The Harp of Dixie

Tuition: $35, Married Couples $65

We will have four lectures on Saturday with a “Round Table” type Question and Answer session to wrap things up.

Miss Brinson will be playing her harp at different times during the day.

We will have a “dutch” Supper program on Friday night for anyone wishing to attend it.

We will meet in a reserved room at Ryan’s Restaurant (near the convention motel) at 7:00pm. Dr. David Aiken will give a talk on “Lost War Poetry” after supper. I felt we needed a place to gather for those coming in on Friday.

The Quality Inn (close to Macon State College) is offering a rate of $59.99. We have a block of rooms set aside, so please use “League of the South” when making your reservations. Phone 478-781-7000. This motel, Macon State & Ryan’s are located at or near the intersection of I-475 & Eisenhower Drive (US Hwy 80)

1:30pm – 2:30pm  Lecture: Dr. Clyde Wilson - "Robert E. Lee"
2:30pm – 2:45pm  Break
2:45pm – 3:45pm Lecture: Ray McBerry - "Jackson - Guardian of Southern Liberty"
3:45pm – 4:00pm  Break
4:00pm – 5:00pm Round table type Question & Answer Session with all faculty members
5:00pm – 5:30pm  Music by Miss Deborah Brinson

  • We are working on a package for each student that includes all of the local historical & cultural attractions.


  • Please register and make your motel reservations as soon as possible.
