Georgia League of the South Campaigns

The Georgia League of the South is actively involved in a number of ongoing campaigns across our state. Each of our campaigns is centered around individual liberty and, usually, States' Rights.

Some of our current campaigns are:

REAL Georgia Flag: We have been actively engaged in a campaign to restore the REAL Georgia flag to the people of Georgia since it was stolen by Gov. Roy Barnes in 2001. The 1956 Georgia flag which features the Confederate battle flag has long been a symbol of Georgia's stand for States' Rights against intrusive federal tyranny; and, as such, it is a fitting symbol to represent the struggle for liberty for the people of Georgia in which we find ourselves in the 21st century. We have already done what many said was "un-do-able," when we upset a sitting governor, Roy Barnes, who had the largest campaign warchest in Georgia political history. The Georgia LOS was responsible for putting out over 10,000 "Let Us Vote" yard signs across the state, as well as a number of county flag proposals across the state and the now-famous "flaggings" of Roy Barnes... all of which ultimately led to his defeat by the first Republican governor in Georgia since the days of Reconstruction in the 1870's. Now, Sonny Perdue, who lied to the League and other supporters about a promise of a statewide referendum on our flag to include the 1956 Georgia flag, has been targeted for political ruin, as well. Just as Roy Barnes was thrown away by the national Democratic leadership after his shameful loss in 2002, Sonny Perdue will ultimately be thrown away by the Bush-led Republican national leadership after they are finished using him for their own purposes. The Georgia LOS intends to bring to bear whatever is necessary with governor after governor, and with the General Assembly, until the people of Georgia have a "Fair Flag Vote" on our choice of state banners. The Georgia League of the South takes a "no compromise" position on the issue of a "fair flag vote."

Ten Commandments: The Georgia League of the South realises that the right of Georgians to publicly display the Ten Commandments in our county courthouses, city halls, and other public venues is ultimately at the foundation of all of our liberties. This right is both a Christian and a States' Rights issue... the right of the people of Georgia to affirm our historic cultural and legal foundations upon the Ten Commandments and the Bible. Despite efforts by cultural marxists and an unconstitutional federal Supreme Court to demand that the Ten Commandments be stricken from public life, we hold that the people of Georgia, just as any other people, have a right to preserve their valuable way of life. At some point, all Georgians must make the decision to draw a line in the sand of what point is "just too much!" The Georgia League of the South holds that this issue of the Ten Commandments is that "line in the sand" ...that there literally is no more ground to give and still pretend to have any sense of liberty remaining at all. The Georgia League of the South has already successfully led campaigns to have the Ten Commandments publicly displayed in some counties around the state, and we are actively pursuing efforts in a dozen more counties, as well. The federal government, the ACLU, and the SPLC must be told that Georgia has a God-given and Constitutionally-acknowledged right to display the Ten Commandments if we choose to do so; and we believe that most Georgians wish to have these foundations of our society publicly displayed for the sake of testimony to our children and visitors, alike.

Property Rights: Thomas Jefferson's famous quotation from the Declaration of Independence was taken directly from John Locke's "right to life, liberty, and property" because the right to own one's property is a fundamental building block of liberty. A man who cannot own his own property is NOT a free man; he is, at best, a vassal or serf on the land of another. The Georgia League of the South is currently involved in property rights issues which include the repeal of "land use" restrictions, the repeal of "property taxes," and the restriction of the use of "eminent domain." Land use restrictions prevent a man from choosing how he will use his own property, which he has purchased with his own capital and improved with his own labour; property taxes, ultimately, identify the state or county as the actual landowner, since they may seize your property for failure to pay every year for the right to "use" your own land; and eminent domain has and IS being used in Georgia to seize individuals' land for those who have wealth and power. The Georgia League of the South is currently working on these issues through county resolutions, proposed legislation, and quality educational media presentations broadcast on television, radio, and individual CD's and DVD's. We believe that property rights, along with several others, are essential to the restoration of true liberty for the people of Georgia.

Summary: We believe strongly that the majority of Georgians agree with these basic issues of liberty; and, if you agree, too, we invite you to join our patriotic stand for liberty! Georgia has a champion of liberty in the Georgia League of the South!
